Clean Beauty starts with the most important part of our products: our ingredients. All our products contain only high-quality ingredients and are free of fillers and harsh chemicals that have been the norm in the beauty world.
Our nourishing formulas are powered by plant-derived actives, antioxidant-rich oils, and a myriad of other natural extracts.
When we identify an eco-friendly ingredient like our pure and organic Argan Oil (made in a UNESCO biosphere reserve in Morocco by women-only cooperatives), we roll it out across as many products as possible. For example, you will find Argan Oil two of our favourite products - Argan Oil Light and Moringa Cleansing Oil.
ANIA is proud to be the first beauty brand in Singapore verified by the Environmental Working Group (EWG VERIFIED™), the leading third-party ingredient safety certification for beauty and personal-care goods. Our Prickly Retinol Serum is the first product in the region to get the mark, we are working extremely hard to verify the rest of our line.
Ingredients can be harmful for different reasons. Some may dry out the skin while others have been linked to cancer or hormonal disruption. ANIA’s mission is to develop clean products using primarily pure plant extracts and safe synthetic ingredients to enhance the natural formulas.
This was probably the toughest challenge we had to face in developing our line. You may already know that a ‘clean’ product is a product that can be preserved safely for more than a year, without mold, bacteria, and microbial growth.
The temptation is to use traditional preservatives (parabens or formaldehyde-releasers) that will confidently kill all bacteria, fungi, and mold in the formulations. However, these harsh preservatives are linked to health hazards such as cancer, neurotoxicity, and more.
After a full year of R&D, we managed to extend the shelf life of our products to two years by using a revolutionary safe preservative technology, derived primarily from plants.
Our Facial Mists contain a probiotic-based preservative that is created by the fermentation of Lactobacillus. Lactobacillus is one of the species of microorganisms used to produce fermented products, such as yoghurt, kimchi, and sauerkraut.
Our serums contain another safe preservative, derived from Coconuts and their medium-chain triglycerides (MCT’s).
Our Moringa Cleansing Oil and Argan Light are preservative-free since they don’t contain any water, making it impossible for bacteria or fungi to grow.
At ANIA. we are at the forefront of innovation, testing and working with new disruptive materials whenever they are made available. It’s important to highlight that our packaging is far from perfect because a perfect solution doesn’t exist yet. Our journey to fully sustainable and carbon-neutral packaging is a marathon, not a sprint, and we are not giving up.
We use glass as much as we can because it is infinitely recyclable and derived from natural raw materials like sand. And with glass, there are no issues around microplastics or toxicity within our oceans or the wider environment. We also print directly onto our glass rather than using adhesive labels. This makes our droppers easier for you to recycle as you don't have to remove the label. Labels are usually coated in plastic and not recyclable themselves.
Last but not least, all our paper packaging is FSC certified, made from wood harvested from forests that are responsibly managed, socially beneficial, environmentally conscious, and economically viable.
